Little Girl in a High Chair

No, I'm not getting strapped in for a ride on the Vortex... I'm sitting in my new big girl high chair. I'm hoping that this new addition to the kitchen means that I'll start getting some grub other than milk reeeeal soon. I have visions of bananas, carrots, and sweet potatoes dancing in my head!
A special thank you to all of mommy's amazing, generous friends from school!

Saddest Baby Ever

I've had it. Enough is enough. I can't be happy all the time. Sometimes a girl just needs a good cry.

Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum... I found an alternative to my thumb. Jack, I'm eating the beanstalk. :)

Glamour Shots

I'm five months old today! I had an appointment with the paparazzi at Portrait Innovations for some updated headshots. Those adults were making some crazy, silly sounds to get me to smile!

#3 and Counting

My mommy and daddy's great friend, Cory, came by today to spend some time with me. It's always fun having him around! He came by around lunchtime with Izzy's in hand and left just after my bedtime. Him and daddy snuck in a quick trip to Golf Galaxy in the middle of the day to swing some clubs. Thanks, Cory, for keeping me company today!

#3=the number of times that Cory has been featured on the blog (he is keeping count) :)

Mudpie

I love looking at, petting, drueling on, and reading about all kinds of animals. My daddy read me a story about different farm animals tonight. After we read the book together, he told me about the good 'ole times he had growing up in Pleasant Hill. He also told me about the time when he took Mommy to a dairy farm and she asked where all the "mud" came from. Apparently all that brown slippery stuff wasn't mud, it was cowpies! Ewwwww grossss!

Pleasant Surprise

When the phone rang at 5:20 this morning, I couldn't quite figure out who would be calling our house that early. Then I heard a resounding, "WHOOO HOOOO!!!" come from mommy's room. I knew immediately what is was all about... a snow day! Our local meteorologist kept referring to this snowy surprise as a quick 1-2 punch of snow. That's a funny way of putting it! :)

Not So Sleepy

After lunch and play time, I always settle down for some afternoon shuteye. On this particular day, I was a little out of sorts and couldn't get to sleep. I tried counting sheep. I tried taking deep, calming breaths. I tried sucking my thumb. I couldn't seem to do anything to make myself fall asleep. I preferred to talk, coo, and wiggle my way all around the pack-n-play.

Happy President's Day

I hope you have been able to celebrate our nation's Presidents today with a day off of work and a nice long weekend. Since George Washington was #1, it's only appropriate to give him some special recognition. Some things that you may not know about good 'ole Georgie (as I'm guessing Martha called him):

1. He only had one tooth left at the age of 57.
2. When he was president, the White House was located in New York City.
3. He brushed his horses teeth every day (but apparently not his own).
4. He didn't have a fabulous hair stylist, he wore a wig.

Call to Action

I need to report a STOLEN BINKY. This item is very dear to me and has been taken without my permission. The suspect is female with dark brown hair last seen wearing a pink shirt, jeans, and sneakers. She goes by the street name "Mommy". Your help in this critical matter is appreciated. If information leads to the recovery of my beloved binky, a very valuable reward will be offered.
*According to witnesses, the suspect was overheard saying something about no need for a binky 'cause I'm a thumbsucker... but I personally like options.

Oscar, This One's For You

Did you know that February 16th is "Do a Grouch a Favor Day"?
Do a grouch a favor and make the world a better place. Everyone has been a grouch at one time or another. Some people are seemingly grouches all of the time. It's in their nature. Others are occasional grouches, influenced by events in their lives, lack of sleep, the weather, etc. A few people are good at disguising their grouchy mood but, they still need cheering up. Look around for someone who is in a grouchy mood today. Then, do him or her a favor that will cheer up their day.
Note: No, I did not make this up.

Ahhhh Chooo!

There are very few things that make me cry, but one of them gets me every time.... SNEEZES! Whether it's my mommy, daddy, or a friendly stranger, sneezes scare me to death. All it takes is one big "ahhhh choooo" and it sends me over the edge. Thank goodness I don't live with my Uncle Greg because he could practically blow the roof off with his sneeze. :)

Daddy, Will You Be Mine?

There is a clear victor in the valentine challenge. Although Abe and Sadie put forth a solid showing, my daddy won the most valentine votes. I guess I'll have to share him with mommy. He sent her a beautiful bouqet today at school. I hope all of my future valentines can be as charming and thoughtful as my daddy.

Frustration

I love my binky. It's always there for me, in good times and in bad. The only problem is that I can't figure out how to put it back in when it falls out and it always falls out. JUST when I'm about to doze off, my binky slips out. Sometimes my fingers wrap around it and I pull it out myself. This is very, very frustrating for me. I went surfing the web to try to find some helpful hints but didn't have any luck. I did find a cute idea though...

Weepy

My Dear Sweet Sydney,

Bear with me cause mommy's having an emotional moment... day... year. :) I always knew that I wanted to be a mommy, but I had no idea how my life would change until the day you were born. I get overwhelmed with happiness just thinking of how much I love you. Every moment with you is such an amazing blessing. Watching you grow every day and achieve new things is incredible, but it's the small moments that truly tug at my heart. After your bath tonight, I put you in your swing and tucked you in tight with a blanket. You looked right at me, paused and smiled with a soft coo. Oh boy, mommy couldn't help but cry. Your daddy and I couldn't possibly love you any more than we do. Now that I've gotten that out of my system, it's back to Biggest Loser: Couples Edition.

XOXO,
Mommy

Yippee!

It really worked! Due to snow accumulation and freezing rain, school was cancelled today for mommy. My plans are to stay in my jammies all day, play, smile and sing. I might squeeze in a quick episode of Days of Our Lives if I have time. I've been wondering what Marlena's been up to these days. ;)

It's About Time

It's time to institute my snow day rituals! The Channel 9 Ultimate Doppler Radar is calling for heavy snow tonight. The forecast is expecting 3-5 inches which happens to be the perfect amount. It's just enough to have the school day cancelled, but not so bad that I can't meet my friends for a lunch date. :)

Shhhhh.......

What a day!!! It started with a trip to the Cincinnati Museum Center to view the BODIES exhibit with mommy, daddy, and Grandma. The exhibit showcases preserved human bodies that are dissected to display bodily systems. It was super neat-o! The only part that I didn't quite understand were the instructions to view the exhibit quietly.... ummmm I don't think so Mr. Museum-direction-giver. You are not the boss of me. In protest, I shared my ideas not-so-quietly throughout the entire visit!

Golden Child

Meet Sadie, Aspen, and the youngest recruit Oakley. They each have their own unique qualities. Aspen, a.k.a. Squints, can barely keep her eyes open when she's excited. Sadie shows off her pearly whites with a smile when she's happy and drinks from her dish laying down. Oakley likes to walk other dogs by putting their leash in her mouth.

Groupie

If I had a jukebox, I'd definitely play songs by the Dirty Sock Funtime Band on repeat. Their music makes me smile and laugh! My favorite singer in the band is Mr. Clown. He is the wackadoo wacky dude. Click on the link below to hear my favorite song, "Music Everywhere".

Bye Bye Bobblehead

My neck has grown much stronger and longer. It doesn't look like my head is sitting directly on my shoulders anymore (hee! hee!). I can even hold my head up to peek out of my carseat. Now on to rolling over.... it's much tougher than it sounds.

The rosy cheeks are a result of very sensitive skin. :)

Snow Bunny

Although the forecast this week calls for fifty-degree weather, my mommy and I would really love a snow day. I've learned all of the rituals for making the perfect snow day come true. I will be wearing my jammies inside out, putting icecubes in the potty and flushing them, running around the kitchen table five times, and performing an arm-flailing snow dance. If none of these work, I've got plans to deflate the tires of the city salt trucks.

Where are the Bengals?

While many of you are enjoying Superbowl XLII, I have other plans... like playing with my favorite redhead doll and kicking my legs super fast. I must admit that if the Bengals were playing, I'd have my full attention on the game. FYI: Carson Palmer is waaaaay cuter than Tom Brady.

More Winter

Punxsutawney Phil's official forecast as read 2/2/08 during sunrise at Gobbler's Knob:

Here Ye! Here Ye! Here Ye!
On Gobbler's Knob on this fabulous Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2008, Punxsutawney Phil, rose to the call of his handlers. After casting a weathered eye toward thousands of his faithful followers, Phil directed his attention to the appropriate scroll, which proclaimed: "As I look around me, a bright sky I see, and a shadow beside me. Six more weeks of winter it will be!"
